NAIDOC Week assembly and activities

This morning, we had a very special guest attend our NAIDOC Week assembly. Robert Taylor, from three language groups  (Kaurna from the Adelaide Plains, Narungga from the Yorke Peninsula and Ngarrindjeri from the lower River Murray and Coorong region), welcomed students to country and entertained and educated students about aboriginal culture, language, dance and art. Robert has been playing the didgeridoo since the age of eight and has learnt and performed traditional dance since the age of eleven. He performs with the Kuma Kaaru (translates to ‘one blood’) dance group that shares culture and stories through dance and workshops. Students also had the opportunity to participate in a range of cultural activities across the day. A big thank you to Stacey Konidaris who organised and coordinated the program.

Sports Day –  Thursday 19 November

A condensed sports day will be held this Thursday 19 November. The program will conclude at approximately 1.10pm, with the canteen open for over counter sales 1st break and lunch orders (purchased as per the normal process) to be sent to classes for 1.10-1.20pm eating. All parents/caregivers attending must complete a COVID site entry form and sign-in through the front office. Anyone who is unwell on the day should remain home.

2021 class placement

We are still finalising the make-up of our 2021 classes, with every effort being made to consider all possible configurations. Continual fluctuations in enrolment numbers have delayed the process slightly, but we are still hopeful that we can confirm a structure and commence the challenging task of allocating students to classes next week. A number of contract teachers can’t yet be confirmed, but this aspect of the process is out of our direct control at this point. 2021 will be a unique year in which our year 6 and 7 students will graduate primary school together and we will do our best to ensure our final class configurations best support this senior cohort.

School toilets and hygiene

Please remind your children to respect our school’s bathroom facilities. We have a number of students who are continually creating unnecessary mess and disruption by miss-using toilets, water and hand sanitisation products. Maintaining good hygiene has never been so important and we need to help our cleaners maintain facilities for all.
