Learning Support
At Greenwith Primary School, we are committed to making a difference for each and every student. To enable all students to have opportunities for success we address barriers and promote the engagement of students in teaching and learning programs.
All students identified with a disability who qualify for a One Plan, receive support from a student service officer in either a one-on-one or small group environment. A One Plan is a personal plan containing information to support a student’s inclusion and achievement at school. Students who require support with social skills or are attaining above or below benchmarks and do not qualify for a One Plan, will have an Individual Learning Plan developed by the classroom teacher.
We also have a number of external providers who support our students throughout the day. This arrangement is negotiated with Leadership, parents/care providers and external agencies. We provide rooms where the student and external provider can support the student at school within school time.
Support Programs
Our school uses specially trained staff to implement the following programs to support students:
Minilit: An evidence-based, explicit early literacy intervention program for teaching reading skills to our students in the Early Years.
Macqlit: An explicit and systematic reading intervention program. The program is delivered to small groups of 4 or 5 students in year 3 and above.
Quicksmart: A basic skills intervention program designed for students who experience persistent difficulties in numeracy. The aim of this program for our middle years students is to enable them to become automatic (quick) in their basic skills to move on to more complex problem-solving skills (smart).
